Open the Door to Your Future
Together with the Partner Visa Subclass 820/801

What is Partner Visa
Temporary and Permanent?

The Partner Visa (Subclass 801 and 820) allows the spouse of an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen to live in Australia. It is a two-stage process, beginning with the Temporary Partner Visa (Subclass 820), which provides temporary residence, work rights, and access to Medicare. This progresses to the Permanent Partner Visa (Subclass 801), granting permanent residency if the relationship is ongoing and eligibility requirements are met.

Permanent Partner Visa (Subclass 801)

The Permanent Partner Visa (Subclass 801) allows the spouse of an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen to live permanently in Australia. This visa is granted to individuals who have met the necessary requirements during their temporary partner visa period and provides access to Medicare, work rights, and the ability to sponsor relatives for permanent residency.

The Temporary Partner Visa (Subclass 820) enables the spouse of an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen to live in Australia temporarily while their permanent visa application is processed. This visa provides work rights, access to Medicare, and the opportunity to progress to the Permanent Partner Visa (Subclass 801).
