Family Visas

Step Into a Caring Role with the Child Visa

What is Child Visa?

Child Visas are designed for children of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens to join their parents in Australia. These visas allow children to live, work, and study in Australia. There are several types of child visas based on the child’s situation:

Subclasses

1. Subclass 101 – Child Visa (Offshore)
  • This visa is for children outside Australia who are sponsored by their Australian parent. It allows the child to live in Australia permanently.
  • The child must be under the age of 18 and meet health and character requirements.
  • This visa is for children who have been adopted by an Australian citizen or permanent resident. It allows the child to live in Australia permanently.
  • The child must be under 18 years of age and must meet health and character requirements.

The Dependent Child Visa (Subclass 445) enables dependent children of temporary partner visa holders to either travel to or stay in Australia while their parent’s permanent partner visa application is being processed. This temporary visa ensures that children can remain with their parents in Australia until a decision is made regarding the parent’s permanent residency application.

  • This visa is for children who are already in Australia and are the biological or adopted child of an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen.
  • The child can stay in Australia permanently if they meet the necessary requirements.
